AllergyFree Foods Broccoli and Cheese Sauce
Items Needed:
- Boiling water
- AllergyFree Foods American Cheese Alternative Slices
- Broccoli (or another vegetable of your choice)
o -For Each Slice of Cheese I recommend approximately 2 Tbsp of boiling water, you can add more or less according to how thick you like your cheese sauce
o -Depending on how many servings you are creating or how much cheese sauce you like on your broccoli, adjust to appropriate amount needed.
Stove Top Directions:
- Bring water to a boil
- Add the appropriate amount of water to the unwrapped AllergyFree Foods American Cheese Alternative Slices
- Allow the boiling water to melt the cheese, if more heat is needed stir constantly over Low Heat until desired texture and thickness is achieved.
- Steam your Broccoli like normal (alternative option – try steaming your vegetables in chicken, beef or Vegetable stock/broth)
- **If you purchase your broth or stock from a grocery store, please make sure that you read the ingredients and make sure that there are no harmful ingredients, when in doubt please use water!
Microwave Directions:
- In a Microwave Safe Bowl add the required amount of water and heat on high (you want the water to be very HOT!)
- Remove from the microwave and place your AllergyFree Foods American Cheese Alternative slice(s) in the bowl and allow to melt, stirring occasionally.
- If the Cheese does not melt all the way or if you need to reheat it, just place in the microwave for 30 second intervals until you get the desired texture and thickness you are looking for.
- Steam your Broccoli as normal and serve Hot Cheese Sauce over hot broccoli
Note:
*This can be done with any of our Cheese Alternative flavors but most children seem to enjoy the American Flavor Profile.
*As this “Sauce” cools it will start to solidify slightly – if needed just reheat quickly in the microwave or place extra sauce in an airtight container and save for later use.
*Add 1 Tbsp at a time if a thinner sauce is desired, add more cheese if you would like it thicker.
*By adding a pinch of onion powder, garlic powder and/or Black pepper you can change the flavor profile so you can savor a new experience.
Enjoy!
